Sandy is a native of upstate New York, growing up in the lake-effect snow zone of the Tug Hill Plateau. Since graduating from Mt. Holyoke College she settled in western Connecticut and pursued a career in Corporate America. For over 20 years, Sandy held management positions of increasing responsibilities at such well known firms as Ethan Allen, Prestone, Honeywell and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. Throughout these years her favorite leisure past time was the pursuit of her family genealogy. Her expertise in the realm of historic investigation became so well known among her colleagues and friends that she soon found herself retaining an increasing, if informal, client base.
In 2002 Sandy decided to leave the corporate world behind and pursue her love of genealogy as a full time professional. She is a graduate of the National Genealogical Society’s program. Sandy serves as President of the Connecticut Professional Genealogist’s Council and is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists. She is on the list of researchers associated with the Connecticut State Library and is a charter member and third term President of the Naugatuck Valley Genealogy Club. Her memberships include the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society, New England Historical and Genealogical Society, Connecticut Ancestry and Connecticut Society of Genealogists among others. Sandy also subscribes to most of the premiere on-line subscription databases including Ancestry, Footnote, World Vital Records and Godfrey Memorial Library.
In addition Sandy contributes her time and skills as a volunteer transcriber for the Church of Latter Day Saints and as a consultant for the Ancestor’s Road Show, most recently at the New England Regional Genealogical Conference held in Hartford in 2007. |
